"Power Rangers" is the name for our group and project. We aim to save the energy that is being wasted constantly on campus by being student "Rangerz" on campus, reminding the school community to turn off lights and air conditioners in classrooms when not in use.
Why
One of the Bros, Nākoa, noticed that our campus is always lit even if no one is there. Upon hearing these things, Kumu Chris Blake also added that many teachers may leave utilities on such as air-conditioners and lights overnight. According to Kumu Amy Brinker (Head Manager of Sustainability of Kamehameha), 40% of Kamehameha Kapālama's campus is from energy waste that come from unused/used lights and air-conditioners. So if we can turn the lights and air-conditioners off, we will be able to cut down the 40% of energy waste.
Here is our presentation for our project that we showcased as a combined group with "Hui Kuleana No Kapālama" at the Hoʻoulu iā Kamehameha Symposium on Friday, May 19, 2017.
